From 18 to 26 September 2021, Belgium will be hosting the 100th anniversary of the UCI World Cycling Championships The 94th edition of the 2021 UCI World Cycling Championships will be held between 18 and 26 September 2021 in Belgium. The region was chosen on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the World Cycling Championships. The UCI chose a return to one of the founding members. The World Cycling Championships are road races and time trials that are organized annually by the International Cycling Union for different categories. The first time this happened in 1921, it was only for amateurs. The first world championship for professional cyclists was held in 1927. A world championship for women has been organized since 1958. The races are held as one-day road races, for elite cyclists as well as under-23’s and juniors. Since 1994, a separate World Time Trial Championship has also been organized. The battle for the white jersey with rainbow bands across the chest will be fought on hallowed cycling ground. From 18 to 26 September 2021, Belgium will be hosting the 100th anniversary of the UCI World Cycling Championships. The finals of the road races will wind their way through the city centre of Leuven. To remember this event, Radio Club Leuven "Antenna" (RCL) has created 'The OO21WCC-Award'. Purpose: The purpose of the Award is to draw attention to the 2021 UCI World Cycling Championships, with its finish in the city of Leuven. Radio Club Leuven "Antenna" RCL is not affiliated with the UCI in any way. Participation: The Award is issued by Radio Club Leuven "Antenna" (RCL) and is available to all radio amateurs with a valid license. Period: Only QSO's between September 1, 2021 00:00 CET and September 30, 2021 24:00 CET count towards the Award. QSO's via a repeater are not valid. Frequencies and modes: There is no restriction in terms of band but all contacts must follow the IARU band plan. For the mode, there are 3 categories: CW, SSB and Digital. Per combination band/mode only 1x points will be awarded. Points: Points for the Award are obtained by QSO's with the special event station OO21WCC. QSO's in CW/SSB/DIGE (excl FT8) count as 5 points for European stations. QSO's in CW/SSB/DIGE (excl FT8) count as 10 points for stations outside Europe. QSO's in FT8, VHF and UHF count as 3 points. During the 3 days of the championship (24-26 September 2021) the special event station will be near the championship course and transmit /P. During those 3 days, QSO's with OO21WCC/P will count as 25 points. Award classes: The OO21WCC-Award consists of the following diplomas: - OO21WCC bronze (25 points). - OO21WCC silver (50 points). - OO21WCC gold (100 points). - OO21WCC platinum (150 points). Awards will be exclusively available electronically.
