The ELAD-SP1 powered speaker is designed to work with the FDM-DUO and FDM-DUOr SDR transceivers. It will work fine with other radios also.
It can be used as an un-powered speaker if need be. With no power applied the audio input is connected directly to the loudspeaker (internally). With power though, it boasts three active filter settings (flat, 300Hz to 3KHz, and voice optimized responses) and mute via two small front-panel push buttons with corresponding blue LEDs.
It is small, measuring h=135mm x w=100mm x d=130mm (I measured it as about 4.5" x 4.25" x 5.125" on its flat feet).
It either sits flat, or can be tilted back as it has flip-down front feet that raise the front up to about 1.75" - about the same as most radios.
Single audio input via 1/8" jack (tip = audio). Supplied with an 8' audio cable and a 2' power cable. Power is via power-pole connectors. It has two pairs, one for power in, and the other for power out.
Electrical specs: DC power 12 to 15 V (13.8V typical) Audio output 10 W RMS on 4 Ohms (<1% THD) Audio output 15 W RMS on 4 Ohms (typical 3% THD) Audio input level 1.4 V RMS Max input across 50 Ohms for 15 W output
