[QSL PREVIEW] –

Still onboard the SA Agulhas II, Yuris YL2GM sent us a preview of the ZS8W QSL card which is shown below.

[MAY 14 @ 1115Z, QRT] –

We just got word – despite a few earlier updates from Yuris that he would be extending his activity until May 14th – ZS8W is now officially QRT as at 1115z today (May 13th). He made over 30K QSOs with a final log update still to come – keep eye here for that.

[MAY 12] –

ZS8W activity has been extended until Tuesday, May 13th Wednesday, May 14th. Yuris is now scheduled to QRT in the morning (local) that day.  He will run FT8 until then. This info supersedes the earlier news below.

[MAY 11] –

Approaching 30K QSOs, the ZS8W DXpedition is now in its final hours. A few extra lucky ones managed to make QSOs on 15m SSB during the weekend- audio recordings below. Logcheck here.

Although the actual QRT time today is still not known, Yuris must have his equipment packed away by local afternoon. The ship (SA. Agulhas II) is scheduled to leave on the 15th – it takes time to load containers etc for the return journey to Cape Town.

[MAY 9 @ 2130Z] –

With nearly 25K QSOs in the log, Yuris ZS8W (YL2GM) updates DX-WORLD that his time on Marion Island is coming to an end.  On Monday – May 12th – he will begin station teardown (no firm time yet when QRT).

Currently, no more 80m or 160m is planned. However, Yuris will do more HF CW this weekend.

It would also appear the aforementioned QRX (or downtime) did not materialize so this weekend is your last chance to grab an ATNO. Good luck !

Regarding SSB, Yuris called for 15 minutes on 20m a few days ago with no callers except two lucky ones. It’s unlikely any more SSB will take place, but never say never!

Likely a final update issued sometime on Sunday.
