• [EARLY REMINDER]

Team YJ0VK is heading back to Vanuatu during 20-27 August 2024, saying they enjoyed the location and operating conditions so much earlier this year they have decided to head back for a short activation. As per last time, the bands will be 40-6m, and most of the operation will be CW with some FT8. The team comprises four operators: Luke VK3HJ, Chris VK3QB, Patrick VK2PN and Olgierd VK5XDX. More news to follow.

  • [QRT, APRIL 11]

YK0VK went QRT on 11 April at 2026z. The last QSO on 17m cw. The team are now home. The last 3 days were extremely uncomfortable with high temperatures and extremely high humidity. And to top it off we ran out of data on our Sim card. But hey, we were there to make radio contacts, not play Facebook or do daily log updates. The final logs have been sent to M0OXO. Do not send busted or missing qso requests to the team. Please follow the instructions on our qrz dot com page. We had a great time. More news to follow when we unpack and catch up on sleep.

On the scene with YJ0VK – credit to team for the pictures. (Logsearch is here).  Latest from Vanuatu:

We now have a 40m doublet up and 2 DX Commanders… one on the beach and one amongst the banana palms. We are fully loaded now.  The flare earlier today caused a major fadeout for us but we’re back in business this evening. Internet is very inconsistent… we’ll do a log up date when we’re able.

  • [MARCH 29 @ 0800z]

After a delay at airport(s) for some of the team, YJ0VK has been up and running on FT8 for approx 24 hours. They mention:

33W into a mobile whip in the garden on 12m now. 40m doublet up and will be on SSB and CW as well this evening (local time). Two more antennas go up tomorrow.
