In July 1995, history was made on the amateur radio bands. After the Israel–Jordan peace treaty, Amir Bazak (4X6TT) had a bold idea: Could King Hussein of Jordan (JY1) himself join a joint ham radio operation between Israelis and Jordanians?

What sounded impossible became reality. On Mount Nebo, two special callsigns — JY74X and JY74Z — came alive. Six Israeli hams and six Jordanian hams operated side by side, 24/7 for a full week, making thousands of QSOs worldwide.

King Hussein (JY1) personally arrived at the site, sat at the rig, and worked pileups like any other ham. It was a once-in-a-lifetime moment where radio waves carried not only signals, but also a message of peace.
