[NEWS UPDATE / DELAYED] – Team member, Lutz DL5KUA via Mark, DK8MM, informs that the GM4S crew are currently delayed (in Aberdeen, Scotland). First of all, the start of their ferry connection from Amsterdam to Newcastle was delayed due a medical emergency (chief engineer fell ill). As a result they missed the ferry from Aberdeen to Shetland by just 10 minutes! The next chance to depart for EU-012 is now on Wednesday evening meaning they finally arrive Shetland’s on Thursday evening. GM4S will then hit airwaves. QRX.

[INITAL INFO] – Between August 4th and August 14th 2025, a group of German and Austrian ham operators will activate the Shetland Islands, EU-012.
The group, consisting of Georg DL4SVA, Frank DL1KWK, Heye DJ9RR, Olaf DJ7TO, Heiko DL1RTL, Stefan OE8TIR and Lutz DL5KUA will take part in the WAE CW Contest under the callsign GM4S. QSL via LoTW and Club Log, QSL card requests for GM4S will be answered via Nigel, G3TXF.
Before and after the contest, team will use personal callsigns (ie, MM/homecalls) in accordance with CEPT to operate on HF and via QO-100 satellite in order to distribute points for the WAE, European Diploma, EU DX Diploma, WAB, VUCC and IOTA. Also SOTA activities from the Shetlands are planned.
