Antennas for Amateur Radio
Has anybody seen an antenna design like this before?
This was an idea I was tinkering with, to capacitively end load a limited space short dipole by using coax with ends shorted and tuning the center conductor without having loading coils.
I searched books and the net and did not find anybody using coaxial capacitive end loading tuning in a dipole. This dipole has similarities to a loop, DDRR and inverted F antenna.
I mocked it up on the floor with alligator wires to a motorized loop tuning cap, and two 3 ft (1m) pieces of coax for the dipole elements. NANOVNA shows it tunes with a 1.8 swr dip from 11-30 mhz. Impressive range for 2 hunks of scrap coax and a loop tuning capacitor.
Indoor RX performance was lousy under the metal roof, surrounded by switching power supplies. I hope for better performance outside.
Any thoughts or ideas of who may have already done this and suggestions to improve it?
