From 18 to 26 September 2021, Belgium will be hosting the 100th anniversary of the UCI World Cycling Championships
The 94th edition of the 2021 UCI World Cycling Championships will be held between 18 and 26 September 2021 in Belgium. The region was chosen on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the World Cycling Championships. The UCI chose a return to one of the founding members.
The World Cycling Championships are road races and time trials that are organized annually by the International Cycling Union for different categories. The first time this happened in 1921, it was only for amateurs. The first world championship for professional cyclists was held in 1927.
A world championship for women has been organized since 1958. The races are held as one-day road races, for elite cyclists as well as under-23’s and juniors. Since 1994, a separate World Time Trial Championship has also been organized.
The battle for the white jersey with rainbow bands across the chest will be fought on hallowed cycling ground. From 18 to 26 September 2021, Belgium will be hosting the 100th anniversary of the UCI World Cycling Championships.
The finals of the road races will wind their way through the city centre of Leuven.
